City of Norfolk, VA first to Select Intergraph Public Safety's New Microsoft SQL Server-Based Products.

First award for SQL Server-based suite for

integrated emergency response solution

The City of Norfolk, Virginia, has selected Intergraph Public Safety (IPS) (Nasdaq:INGR) to provide a fully integrated computer aided dispatch (CAD), police records management (RMS), jail management (JMS), automated field reporting and mobile data computing solution. The contract, valued at $2.1 million (US), is the first to use the Microsoft SQL Server version of the IPS software suite.

The City of Norfolk covers an area of 66 square miles and has a population of over 234,000. The Bureau of Emergency Services selected the IPS system to provide emergency dispatch services for their law enforcement, fire and paramedical agencies. The City of Norfolk responds to approximately 400,000 calls for emergency services per year. An additional consideration for the City's award to IPS was the system's capability to handle the anticipated 50 percent growth of wireless calls from citizens in the next year.
