. The event will be held in MI's main concert hall with doors opening at 10am and the proclamation being presented at 11am. Following the presentation, the school will be holding an open house for prospective new students. This open house will allow potential students to explore career opportunities in the music field ranging from contemporary music performance to audio engineering, music business, film, and more. The event includes an overview of programs, financial aid and the admissions process, followed by mini-lessons in each program area conducted by MI instructors at 12pm and a lunch and tour at 1:30pm.

Roberts was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and began playing guitar at age 8. By the time he was 15 he was playing professionally locally.
, who teamed up to expand Howard's highly successful weekend guitar seminars into a full-time, one-year program. GIT's revolutionary curriculum was designed to provide students with the technical training, musical knowledge and practical experience needed for professional-level performance. Traditional classrooms were replaced by intensive hands-on workshops under the close supervision of some of the world's best guitarists. The idea quickly took off, and in short order GIT was joined by Bass (BIT) and Percussion (PIT) to form Musicians Institute (MI).

Today, MI offers Bachelor of Music and Associate of Arts Associate of arts and Associate of science are two-year undergraduate degrees offered by many community colleges or junior colleges in the United States. Such degrees transfer to four-year institutions which offer full bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees.  degrees as well as certificate programs in guitar, bass, percussion, voice and keyboards, with additional degrees and certificates in audio engineering, original music production, music video and film, music business and guitar-making. Facilities have grown along with the student population - now more than 1100 students per quarter - to include over 75,000 square feet of studios, performance venues, classrooms and practice rooms across several blocks in central Hollywood. Thousands of MI graduates are spread out all over the globe, working in every part of the music industry.
