By the end of March, the city should find out whether the Spruce Goose -- the biggest airplane ever built -- will leave Long Beach for Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. Meanwhile, speculation swirls about the future of the two attractions and what it would mean to Long Beach to lose one or both of the tourist draws.

The speculation began last year when Walt Disney Noun 1. Walt Disney - United States film maker who pioneered animated cartoons and created such characters as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck; founded Disneyland (1901-1966)

But the officials note that a significant problem is how to move the plane because the aircraft was only flew once, and that was for less than a mile.

The aircraft, which weighs 400,000 pounds, was built by billionaire Howard Hughes, who lived in Las Vegas.

An official of the Aero Club in Las Vegas did not return a phone call for comment. But Long Beach Mayor Ernie Kell has said that it's "inevitable" that the aircraft will leave the city.

The situation with the Queen Mary, which is owned by the city and Port of Long Beach, is equally uncertain. If Disney decides to sever its management agreement, there has been discussion of moving the ship elsewhere, or simply taking it out to sea and sinking it.
