City of Las Vegas declares Wednesday ``Soldier of Fortune Day'' and ``Lt. Col. Robert K. Brown Day''.

It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  Mayor Oscar Goodman Oscar Baylin Goodman (born on June 26, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an attorney and the Mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada.  issued a proclamation declaring Wednesday to be "Soldier of Fortune Day" and "Lt. Col. Robert K. Brown Robert K. Brown is a combat correspondent, investigative journalist, and founder/editor/publisher of Soldier of Fortune magazine (SOF), a pro-gun, pro-military magazine which reports on various armed confrontations around the world, as well as on new weapons and other military  Day" in honor of Soldier of Fortune magazine, its 20th annual convention in Las Vegas, and its founder and publisher.

Mayor Goodman's office delivered the city proclamation to Brown on Tuesday, prompting the Soldier of Fortune founder to say this was the first time he and his 24-year-old magazine had ever received such an honor from a local government.

"This is quite a surprise," Brown said. "In fact, we're more used to battling governmental entities than receiving proclamations from them."

The proclamation praised Brown and his magazine for bringing its annual convention to Las Vegas each year, boosting the local economy and supporting law enforcement in Las Vegas and across the country.

The Soldier of Fortune convention and expo runs Wednesday through Sunday. The expo, at Cashman Field Cashman Field is a stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada owned and operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Its primary use is for baseball, and is the home field of the Las Vegas 51s minor league (AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) baseball team.  Center in downtown Las Vegas Downtown Las Vegas can have several meanings depending on how it is used.

, is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 per day, or $20 for a three-day pass. Tickets are available at Cashman Field in downtown Las Vegas.
