His cover versions of African-American rhythm and blues hits had a noticeable impact on the development of the broad popularity of rock and roll.  and Monty Hall Maurice "Monty Hall" Halperin, O.C., B.Sc., LL.D (born August 25 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian-born actor, singer and sportscaster, best known as the host of the long-running television game show Let's Make a Deal. , will be given special recognition at the 47th Annual Luncheon of the 500 Club for the City of Hope National Medical Center City of Hope is one of 39 NCI-designated Cancer Centers and is located in the city of Duarte, California. City of Hope comprises an ambulatory and in-patient cancer treatment center as well as a biomedical research facility known as the Beckman Research Institute and the City of Hope  and Beckman Research Institute The Beckman Research Institute (BRI) is a research facility affiliated with the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. It is dedicated to studying normal and abnormal biological processes which may be related to cancer. .

The marathon event will be held on three successive days, Nov. 2, 3 and 4, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

"We are very proud to welcome a host of celebrity guests, to offer an outstanding holiday boutique and include a fabulous fashion production, all on behalf of City of Hope, one of the world's great cancer centers," said Senior Luncheon Vice Presidents Eunice Brown, Beverly Jacobs and Rosalie Maretsky.

Center stage on Monday will be George Segal. On Tuesday Pat Boone will be recognized and on Wednesday Monty Hall will be the special guest.

Highlighting the luncheon themed "Journey of Dreams" will be a fashion production staged by Carin Holmenas. Featured designers will include fashion from the LIOLA boutique of Beverly Hills, menswear by Jhane Barnes in Century City, Travilla and furs by Edwards-Lowell. Luncheon tickets are $65 each and further information may be obtained by calling Danial Streeter at 213/626-4611, ext. 6320.

Special recognition will be given to Dr. Vittorio Giulini, chief executive officer of LIOLA, who is making a special trip to Los Angeles from Milan, Italy, to be honored during the luncheon.

LIOLA has been the leader in women's fashion in Italy for generations. The company specializes in exclusive jersey knitting, weaving, dying and silk printing. LIOLA has more than 110 boutiques in Italy, Europe, Asia and the United States. Giulini also is chairman of Moda Industries, the association of all Italian fashion-industry manufacturers.

A special attraction of the three days will be "Showplace Square," featuring a collection of boutiques which will be open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the hotel's Executive Center. Boutique chairpersons are Ruth Ann Cowan and Lorraine Dennis.
