City of Chicago's Park District Hits Home Run With 50 Percent Performance Gain Using Unisys ES7000 Server.

Moving operations to a new facility and rebuilding an entire information technology infrastructure in just six months is a challenge for any organization.

It was especially daunting to the City of Chicago Park District, a municipal agency with limited funds and resources. Thanks to Unisys and the e-@ction Enterprise Server ES7000, the Park District managed these challenges, successfully moving and re-building its network infrastructure within budget and on time. And, they maintained system availability without interruption since its installation in July.

To streamline administrative processes like running payroll and managing human resources, the Park District had to consolidate its server environment and incorporate a compatible storage area network solution (SAN) for faster tracking and reporting.

With the Unisys ES7000 using Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server operating system, the Park District now will be able to run its bi-weekly payroll of 6,500 employees fifty percent faster. In the future, the Park District plans to use its ES7000 server for customer relationship management applications, as well as implement work order systems.

In addition, Unisys has become a strategic partner of the Park District, managing its key business applications through outsourcing and freeing Park District staff members to focus on critical business issues.

Unisys currently maintains the Park District's mission-critical administrative functions, including financial, payroll and human resources, and fulfills major operational requirements, such as network management and end-user help desk support.
