City man in fake pounds 20 notes scam.Byline: By Ron Warrilow A BIRMINGHAM man accused of producing high quality pounds 20 notes from a counterfeiting operation at a factory unit in Sandwell has been further remanded on bail. Paul Wickham was arrested in May this year when the West Midland Noun 1. Wickham, of Vimy Road, Billesley, admitted producing counterfeit currency when he appeared before Judge John Warner at Wolverhampton Crown Court. The court was told there had to be a further hearing in the case before sentence could be passed to determine the full extent of the forged currency put into circulation by Wickham. Hugh O'Brien-Quinn, prosecuting, described the forged pounds 20 notes as "very good" and said 271 had been recovered so far by officials from the Bank of England Bank of England, central bank and note-issuing institution of Great Britain. Popularly known as the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street, its main office stands on the street of that name in London. . He said it would be the prosecution case that many more of the counterfeit notes had been passed into circulation. |
