City looks for social workers.

HIGH-calibre social workers are to be lured to Coventry as part of a pioneering scheme to boost confidence among vulnerable kids and their families.

The campaign, Be the Difference, is being launched today by the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC CWDC Children's Workforce Development Council (UK) ), with the full backing of Coventry City Council.

It's part of a three-year programme to reform the way social workers are recruited, trained and supported.

The city council, one of the first local authorities to be targeted by the drive, is already involved in five other pilots including the Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) programme, and the graduate recruitment Graduate recruitment or campus recruitment refers to the process whereby employers undertake an organised program of attracting and hiring students who are about to graduate from schools, colleges and universities.  scheme, which aims to attract talented workers from other disciplines.

The strategy is also about to be highlighted on national TV, featuring inspiring real life stories that illustrate how social workers apply their skills and expertise to make major breakthroughs with children and families.
