City joins Web in new shape.

WORCESTER - The city's Web site has a new address and a new look.

Gone is the cumbersome cum·ber·some

. O'Brien said the change, which went into effect last week, was made to make the site more user-friendly.

He said the old Web address could prove to be a bit confusing con·fuse

As part of the makeover, Mr. O'Brien said, the site was redesigned as well and contains many new features intended to offer enhanced "e-government" services to the public.

While the city's old Web site has won several e-government awards, Mr. O'Brien said the new site will further identify the city as a leader in the use of the latest technology in serving its citizens.

Mr. Covello said some of the new features on the Web site are:

New selection categories, such as E-Services, City Government, Living & Working, Doing Businesses, Health & Safety.

All addresses listed on the city's Web site are linked to Google maps Google Maps (for a time named Google Local) is a free web mapping service application and technology provided by Google that powers many map-based services including the Google Maps website, Google Ride Finder and embedded maps on third-party websites via the Google Maps .

The Web site is translated into many foreign languages.

It meets all compliances for the impaired.
