City filed charges against garment firms accused of counterfeiting

James Kenneth "Jim" Hahn (born July 3, 1950) is an American politician from the Democratic Party. He was the Deputy City Attorney (1975-1979), City Controller (1981-1985), City Attorney (1985-2001) and Mayor of Los Angeles, California
 has filed criminal charges against the owners of 14 garment-district companies accused of manufacturing and selling counterfeit copies of major-brand clothing.

The criminal complaints grew out of a major sweep by the Los Angeles Police Department's Bunco-Forgery Division last December.

An estimated $1 million of phony merchandise and manufacturing equipment was seized and 19 persons were arrested during the raid.

Deputy City Attorney Fay Chu, who is handling the case, said counterfeit merchandise being copied included lines by Nike, L.A. Gear, Coca Cola, Nintendo, Guess, Disney, Body Glove, Reebock. The 27 owners and employees implicated im·pli·cate
