City enlists in countdown to a healthier lifestyle; Vorderman spearheads fitness quest.Byline: LIZA WILLIAMS A CAMPAIGN was being launched in Liverpool today to get neighbours working together towards a healthy lifestyle. TV presenter Carol Vorderman Carl Vorderman MBE (born 24 December 1950 Bedford [1]) is a Welsh television personality best known for being a long-standing co-presenter of Channel 4 game show Countdown. She was awarded an MBE in June 2000. is spearheading the Neighbourhood Health Watch, which concentrates on three British cities - Liverpool, Glasgow and Bir mingham. Ms Vorderman, who has teamed up with Lloyds pharmacy for the scheme, said: "Trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle can be a really lonely business. "If you do not have a network of support around you, it is easy to slip back into bad habits. "If you are lucky enough to have close family support, that's great, but lots of people have to go it alone when they decide to do more exercise, stop smoking, follow a better diet or cut back on alcohol. "And yet all around us - probably on the same street - there are people in the same boat, people who have the same goals and who are struggling with the same motivational barriers. "We will then work with participants to help them work together to improve those measures over the course of 2009 and into 2010." They will also provide free equipment such as blood pressure monitors to help people manage their health better at home, as well as offering advice and assistance.
