City church hit by burglars.


A COMPUTER and charity cash were stolen in a burglary at a city centre church.

Thieves broke into the presbytery presbytery (prĕz`bĭtĕr'ē, prĕs`–), in architecture, the space in the eastern end of a church reserved for the higher clergy. It was also known in the early Christian Church as the apse, tribune, or exedra.  next door to St Anthony's RC Church, on Scotland Road, through a ground-floor window in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon.

They also stole a blue Peugeot 206 car used by the parish priest, Father Graeme Dunne.

The house, which serves as a parish office and is also the home of Fr Dunne, was unoccupied at the time.

Fr Dunne said it was the latest in a series of break-ins at the church over the past few years.
