AN exhibition of paintings capturing Durham landmarks in watercolour watercolour

Painting made with a pigment ground in gum, usually gum arabic, and applied with brush and water to a surface, usually paper. The pigment is ordinarily transparent but can be made opaque by mixing with a whiting to produce gouache.
 has opened.

The Watercolours of Durham City exhibition by artist Nigel Noble-Nesbitt, is being held at the university's Palace Green Library.

The exhibition focuses on views of the old city, including the cathedral, castle and the riverside walk.

Mr Noble-Nesbitt's work has previously been exhibited at a number of other venues throughout the North East, including the Laing Art Gallery The Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle Upon Tyne in North East England is located on New Bridge Street. It was founded in 1901, and opened in 1904. It is now managed by Tyne and Wear Museums and sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.  in Newcastle.

The exhibition runs until Monday December 22 2008. Opening times are 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday. Entry is free.
