City backs IKEA.


It's official. After the City Council's land use committee approved IKEA's plan to build a big box store in Red Hook, Brooklyn Red Hook is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is part of Brooklyn Community Board 6. Location and history
Before annexation into the 12th Ward of Brooklyn, Red Hook was a separate village.
 last week, the entire City Council voted in favor of the plan; with a 49-1 vote.

Most people expected this outcome, as the vote of the land use committee is considered a good predictor of the Council's overall inclination.
