City University Appoints Five New Board Members; Board of Governors Grows To Fifteen.


BELLEVUE, Wash. -- City University's Board of Governors has appointed Larry W. Campbell, Cynthia Chirot, Dr. Peter C. Ku, Steven Weidner, and Randy Aliment al·i·ment

 to the board, bringing the number of members to fifteen. The new appointees bring extensive private and public sector experience to the university and all are committed to education and public service.

Larry W. Campbell is a well-respected political figure in Canada. Campbell currently serves in the Canadian Senate. Previously he served as mayor of Vancouver from 2002-2005. Prior to holding the office of mayor, Campbell worked for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Royal Canadian Mounted Police, constabulary organized (1873) as the Northwest Mounted Police to bring law and order to the Canadian west. In 1920 the name was changed to the present title.  from 1969-1973 and was a member of the Drug Squad from 1973-1981. Campbell later worked in Vancouver's first district Coroner's office from 1981-1996 when he was appointed to B.C. Chief Coroner. Campbell holds a B.S.B.A. and M.B.A. from City University.

Cynthia Chirot is Chief Executive Officer of the Northwest Entrepreneur Network (N.W.E.N.). Chirot joined N.W.E.N. in 2006 after working in the banking industry for 28 years as executive vice president at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, and vice president of Product Development at Seafirst/Bank of America. Chirot has served on numerous community boards and holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a public, coeducational, research university located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. Also known as The University of North Carolina, Carolina, North Carolina, or simply UNC , and a M.B.A. from the University of Washington.

Dr. Peter C. Ku is the Chancellor Emeritus of the Seattle Community College District The Seattle Community College District is a group of community colleges located in Seattle, Washington. It consists of three colleges— North Seattle Community College, Seattle Central Community College (including the Wood Construction Center and Seattle Maritime Academy), . Ku was the chancellor from 1998-2003 and served as the president of North and South Seattle Community Colleges from 1990-1998. Born in China, Ku was one of the country's highest-ranking Chinese-American educators and the first Asian born community college president in the State of Washington. Ku holds a B.A. in Law from Taiwan Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan, a M.A. in Library Science from the University of Minnesota (body, education) University of Minnesota - The home of Gopher.

Steven Weidner is president of Program Navigators, Inc, a Bellevue, Washington based management firm.
