City University Announces Partnership with Chilean University.

City University Developing Programs For Chilean Students

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- City University (CityU) has entered into a partnership agreement with Instituto Profesional DuocUC (DuocUC), a private, accredited, post-secondary institution with over 36,000 students and nine campuses across Chile. CityU will begin offering to DuocUC students a short-term program in summer of 2007 focusing on international marketing, information technology, and English language reinforcement. The program will also provide Chilean students multiple opportunities to visit multinational corporations based in the greater Puget Sound area.

"This partnership with DuocUC extends CityU's contribution to the internationalization of students from foreign countries," comments City University's Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia. Leon Garcia continues, "In this particular effort, the initiative with DuocUC marks CityU's initial entry into the Cono Sur region of South America. The experience will provide DuocUC students with a broader perspective on business and communications, and will add more value in terms of their marketability and competitiveness both in the Chilean and global economy."

Although the first exchange between the two universities will bring DuocUC students to the Seattle area, CityU anticipates that this will lay the foundation for additional institutional collaboration in the future, including the possible offering of dual diploma programs or graduate level programs such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA).

"This is a great opportunity for joining efforts in contributing to the formation of global students and searching for a common standard of professionals that will add value to the worldwide job marketplace."

This agreement is the first of its kind between DuocUC and any college or university in the Western US, and is CityU's first partnership with a Chilean institution.
