City National Investments Names Richard Weiss as New Chief Investment Officer.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1999--

City National Investments (CNI) today announced that Richard A. Weiss has been named the financial institution's chief investment officer and senior vice president, based in Beverly Hills, Calif.

A veteran investment strategist, Weiss brings more than 16 years of knowledge and experience to the position. As City National Investment's chief investment officer, Weiss will oversee the management of more than $4 billion in client assets. He also will be a key executive and strategist as CNI continues to increase the depth and breadth of services offered to both its individual and business clients.

Prior to joining CNI, Weiss served as the chief investment officer and executive vice president of Sanwa Bank California. During his six years with Sanwa Bank, Weiss tripled assets under management from $1.1 billion to $3.0 billion, as well as initiating and growing overseas investment advisory business from zero to $400 million in assets.

He is credited with the design and implementation of quantitatively disciplined equity, fixed-income and international investment strategies that currently rank in the top percentiles of the national competition. During his period with Sanwa Bank California, Weiss created and managed The Eureka Funds, a proprietary family of mutual funds with annual revenues exceeding $3 million.

Weiss also has served as senior investment strategist and senior vice president for Vantage Global Advisors, as well as working with TSA Capital Management as its managing director. An author of several academic research papers and an active conference speaker, Weiss is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania with a M.B.A. from University of Chicago.
