), a Bell & Howell Company, to provide its reports archival system.

The $1.1 billion financial institution is one of the last remaining community banks in the Miami area, profiting despite competition from much larger banks due to City National's dedication to customer service, says Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson (born August 17, 1954) is a guitarist and recording artist from Austin, Texas.
, vice president/director of MIS.

The bank, still owned by its founding family, is celebrating its 50th anniversary serving a diverse customer base throughout Miami.

"People expect a quick response. We use technology to enhance our personal service to customers, not to replace it," Johnson adds. "We don't want to lose that personal touch. PCI/Reports was the best COLD (Computer Output to Laser Disk Computer Output to Laser Disk - Enterprise Report Management ) product for us to meet those needs."

PCI/Reports allows instantaneous statement retrieval. Under the older system, a customer who asked for a copy of a statement had to wait several days for this information.

"This allows us to look things up right away; the information is at our fingertips "Fingertips" is a 1963 number-one hit single recorded live by "Little" Stevie Wonder for Motown's Tamla label. Wonder's first hit single, "Fingertips" was the first live, non-studio recording to reach number-one on the Billboard Pop Singles chart in the United States. ," Johnson says. "Everything is on-line, so we don't have to leave the customer to look up an item on fiche Same as microfiche. ."

PCI/Reports also allows City National to greatly reduce mountains of paperwork, Johnson adds. "We were looking for Looking for

PCI/Reports is a PC-based, client-server solution designed specifically for both mid- and large-size institutions. It eliminates the need for more expensive and complex versions of client-server technology involving RISC processors, minicomputers, mainframes or UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
. Its hierarchical data management uses high capacity magnetic RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks - Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks ) optical storage and LANframe, which utilizes an array of PCs for compression and indexing of large volumes of data, in the proper mix to ensure maximum performance. These features further separate PCI/Reports from many other data archival products on the market.
