The development, facing the sea across from the Bahrain City Centre mall, is expected to be spread over 2.2 million sqm.

It will include residences, hotels, a beach park and marina, schools, plus commercial, leisure and retail facilities.

The project, being showcased at the Bahrain International Property Exhibition (Bipex 2009), will be formally launched in April, developer Albilad Real Estate general manager Zeyad Janahi said yesterday.

The budget and when the development will be completed have not yet been disclosed.

"We hope it would attract a 40,000-strong community, as well as businesses and tourists," he told the GDN GDN Garden (postal suffix)

Mr Janahi said HOK had used its knowledge of the area to develop a project that not only includes large areas of business and leisure facilities, but will also offer plenty of open spaces for the inhabitants
