Process an attempt to diversify diversify

To acquire a variety of assets that do not tend to change in value at the same time. To diversify a securities portfolio is to purchase different types of securities in different companies in unrelated industries.

The first phase of a strategic planning Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people.  exercise aimed at increasing economic and social development in Timmins Timmins, town (1991 pop. 47,461), central Ont., Canada, on the Mattagami River. Clara Ferrari, strategic plan co-ordinator for the City of Timmins, says the next step in the development of a strategic plan for Timmins lies in identifying specific solutions to existing economic and social problems.

For areas identified as needing improvement or development, Ferrari says phase 2 of the strategic plan will identify and approach public and private interests that could potentially help in providing solutions to specific problems.

"We're really trying to jump-start the process now. Trying to get people working on ideas. Part of that lies in getting our message out to the public."
