Eugene teen wins volunteer honor

South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was founded as Eugene High School around 1900, and was located at Willamette Street and West 11th Avenue in a brick building that later served as Eugene's city hall.  senior Samuel Glaser received a $1,000 award - and personal congratulations from "West Wing" TV star Martin Sheen - at the Prudential Prudential is the name of two different companies and buildings named after them:

 Spirit of Community seventh annual awards ceremony held Sunday at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

Glaser, 18, and 14-year-old Tonneli Gruetter of Lake Oswego Lake Os·we·go  

A city of northwest Oregon, a residential suburb of Portland. Population: 35,800.
 were selected in February as Oregon's top high school and middle school youth volunteers. They joined more than 100 teen-agers across the country at Sunday's event.

Glaser created a service club, South Eugene Responsive Volunteers, two years ago that now has more than 100 members. The group has prepared meals for the hungry, helped build and organize a free medical clinic, coordinated a camp for at-risk youth and raised money to fund a variety of projects.

Conducted in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is a United States educational advocacy organization consisting of secondary school principals. To promote excellence among middle school and high school students, NASSP founded and still sponsors the National Honor , the community awards were created seven years ago by Prudential Financial to encourage youth volunteerism vol·un·teer·ism
