Police stop car, discover drug lab

SPRINGFIELD - A Springfield police officer pulled over a car Thursday that carried a surprise cargo - a methamphetamine-making laboratory and some of the finished product.

Officer Charlie Conrad stopped the 1989 Dodge Daytona in the 1600 block of North 28th Street shortly before midnight Thursday. The driver and passenger consented to a search of the car, police said. Inside, the officer found the portable lab and more methamphetamine than one person would keep for personal use, police said.

Detectives from the Lane County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team joined the officer to help with the investigation.

Police arrested and later released Gary Brian Carlson, 46, and Sabrina Lynn Wiseman, 32, on charges of unlawful manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
