Citrix to Acquire DataPac Australasia; Acquisition to Accelerate Citrix Presence in High-Growth Asia-Pacific Market.

(Nasdaq:CTXS CTXS Citrix Systems (NASDAQ stock ticker symbol) ) today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire certain of the assets, technology and operations of DataPac Australasia Pty Limited for approximately U.S. $5.0 million. The acquisition of DataPac Australasia, a former OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  of Citrix WinFrame WinFrame was a multi-user version of Windows NT 3.51 which was fully repackaged by Citrix Systems. At this stage of the product development Citrix Systems licensed the Windows NT 3.51 base operating system from Microsoft. (R) thin-client/server software, provides an experienced base of sales, marketing, technical support and administrative personnel in Australasia.

Today's announcement reinforces the company's commitment to the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. Earlier in August, Citrix announced its entry into the marketplace, with the opening of a local office in Sydney, Australia. The acquisition of DataPac Australasia significantly increases the total number of Citrix employees dedicated to its Asia-Pacific operations, helping to accelerate the company's presence in the region.

The company anticipates the transaction will close on or about October 1, 1997, subject to obtaining the necessary Australian government approvals. Citrix will record a charge to its operations in the fourth quarter of 1997 for the write-off of in-process WinFrame-enhancement technologies associated with the purchase. However, the amount of such charge is currently being determined in connection with the purchase price allocation being prepared by management.
