Citrix introduces Web 2.0 Push technology.

Citrix Systems Citrix Systems' (NASDAQ: CTXS) is an American technology company, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with subsidiary operations in California and Massachusetts, with additional development centers in Australia, India and the UK.  Inc (Nasdaq:CTXS CTXS Citrix Systems (NASDAQ stock ticker symbol) ), a provider of application delivery infrastructure, unveiled on Tuesday (14 April) the industry's first Web 2.0 Push technology as an integrated feature of its Citrix NetScaler product line.

The company said that the new capability was designed to address the demands that interactive Web 2.0 applications are placing on server infrastructures. Web 2.0 applications offer enhanced functionality and responsiveness for end users but are inefficient when it comes to server computing resources. In order to create a rich interactive experience, the applications need to maintain a one-to-one user connection to back-end servers for extended periods, which adversely impacts performance and scalability.

With its new Web 2.0 Push technology, NetScaler can transmit the data to application users directly from the NetScaler systems deployed in front of the data centre, relieving the back-end server infrastructure from having to manage tens or hundreds of thousands of individual connections.

In addition, the new technology enables 'publish-and-subscribe' semantics semantics [Gr.,=significant] in general, the study of the relationship between words and meanings. The empirical study of word meanings and sentence meanings in existing languages is a branch of linguistics; the abstract study of meaning in relation to language or  and supports the proactive push of data from the server to the client. This approach can be used to deliver continuous streams of new or updated information, creating the illusion of real-time interaction. The result is a dynamic, responsive user interface.

The Web 2.0 Push technology is available immediately in Enterprise and Platinum editions of NetScaler. Existing NetScaler customers are eligible for a free upgrade to include the new technology. No other pricing details were disclosed.
