(Nasdaq:CTXS CTXS Citrix Systems (NASDAQ stock ticker symbol) ), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, and market research company Edge Research (http://www.edgeresearch.com) announced results of a customer survey exploring technology issues and IT spending trends among attendees of Citrix's annual business and technology forum this week in Orlando, Florida The city of Orlando is a major city in central Florida and is the county seat of Orange County, Florida. According to the 2000 census, the city population was 185,951. A 2006 U.S. . E[acute accent]Major survey findings showed a strong need for greater endpoint security and control for access to applications and data by remote and mobile users. Specifically, 80 percent of respondents indicated that the following capabilities would be extremely valuable to them when providing remote and mobile access to applications: E[acute accent]--The ability to analyze the client's level of security (such as the existence of anti-virus software anti-virus software n → Antivirensoftware f and current patches to browsers) E[acute accent]--The ability to alter functionality available to the user depending on the client access scenario (trusted versus untrusted devices) and policies concerning the user (for example, turning off local printing capability or eliminating the saving of documents on the desktop) E[acute accent]--The ability to track and map user scenarios (such as applications and files accessed, functions performed, etc.) E[acute accent]Currently, two-thirds of customers surveyed lack the ability to analyze a client device for its level of security, or to change the functionality available to the user based on client security. E[acute accent]"Although organizations want and need to give mobile workers greater access to information, they are constrained by fears about the security of untrusted devices outside the firewall. Our findings clearly show an urgent need for a solution that not only provides an accurate picture of each client device's security, but also allows administrators to alter access and functionality based on that information, and rules specific to users," said Jon Kulok, Managing Director of Edge Research. E[acute accent]Concerns about client security were also evident from the responses to survey questions about regulatory compliance and increasing demand for application access. Ninety percent of respondents agreed that regulatory compliance is driving the need for greater endpoint security and more discriminating access technologies, while 87 percent indicated that their business clients were requiring more remote access to applications and information. E[acute accent]Strategic Business Initiatives - More than 97 percent of respondents agreed that one of their company's core strategic business initiatives is to establish an infrastructure that provides simple ways to ensure a consistent user experience and instant, secure access to IT services with stable and reduced costs. This finding supports the importance of the Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Access Suite in meeting the access requirements of the company's global customer base of more than 120,000 organizations. E[acute accent]Web-based Application See Web application. Deployment - The customer survey results showed that 86 percent of respondents are deploying or plan to deploy Web-based versions of custom or packaged applications within their organizations, and of those customers, more than 68 percent are using Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server to do so. Centralized administration, rapid application deployment, increased security and cost savings were highlighted as the most important benefits customers have gained from using MetaFrame Presentation Server to deploy Web applications. E[acute accent]Other Major Findings E[acute accent]-- IT Spending Trends - Nearly 50 percent of customers surveyed - vs. 43 percent last year - said they expect their organization's IT budget to increase in 2005. E[acute accent]-- Single Sign-on An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. Single sign-on systems are also used within an enterprise, enabling users to access all authorized resources in the local network using the same username and password. - More than half of respondents said they plan to implement single sign-on software within one year. E[acute accent]Over, 2,300 attendees gathered in Orlando this week to learn more about the strategic power of access and how Citrix access infrastructure can enable the on-demand enterprise.
