Citrix and Peribit Networks Fuel Productivity, Simplify IT Management for Truman Arnold Companies.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server Cuts IT Costs While Expanding Application Access for Wholesale Fuel Supplier's Remote Employees

Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Truman Arnold Companies (TAC), a nationwide wholesale petroleum supplier, is standardizing on Citrix access infrastructure and Citrix partner Peribit Networks' Sequence Reducer platform. The new infrastructure is making it possible for TAC to provide remote employees with immediate, secure information access, while eliminating reliance on costly PCs and their associated upgrades and security vulnerabilities. Through its TAC Energy subsidiary, Truman Arnold Companies markets and distributes more than 100 million gallons of petroleum products a month to customers located in 48 states across the U.S. In addition, the company's TAC Air unit provides fixed-base operations, including aircraft fueling and hangar and ground transportation services through 10 general aviation facilities in the U.S. The company also operates Road Runner convenience stores.

TAC's small, centralized IT staff was stretched to its limits providing round-the-clock support for 220 PC users in 16 locations across the U.S. Application upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance for remotely located PCs meant scores of daily telephone calls, PCs being mailed back-and-forth for repairs, and periodic IT staff trips to remote sites. These time and resource-intensive activities were enormously expensive, inefficient and drained productivity.

According to Mickey Morris, TAC's systems administrator, Citrix access infrastructure has had a significant, positive impact on the IT department and the company at-large. "Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server has not only simplified our IT department's internal processes, but has enhanced our ability to provide remote users with easy, reliable access to the information they need. We no longer have to worry about how to support different software at different locations. In addition, all of our remote sites are linked via 128K Frame Relay, and we didn't want to incur the expense of upgrading our lease lines, despite the growing need for more bandwidth. Peribit's ability to deliver LAN-like application performance over the WAN optimizes performance and adds to the company's overall savings. Authorized TAC users, identified by roaming profiles, use Neoware thin-client terminals for secure access to applications residing on five servers at the company's corporate offices. Available applications include Microsoft(R) Office XP, Adobe(R) Reader(R), Yahoo(R) Messenger, an AS-400 aircraft software application, and from a RISC-6000 platform, accounts payable and customer relationship management applications. Thin-client terminals on user desktops have the same user interface as their former PCs but provide some significant advantages.
