Citrix Keynote Address at CIPTUG to Highlight Innovations in IP Telephony Applications.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Murli Thirumale, vice president and general manager at Citrix, will be a featured keynote speaker at the upcoming Cisco IP Telecommunications Users Group (CIPTUG) conference. CIPTUG is an independent, non-profit association addressing the needs of Cisco IP telecommunications users around the globe.

Although telephones and telephone switches have been around since the late 1800s, besides the change from rotary to push-button, there has been little innovation made to improve the telephone's user interface. With the emergence of IP Telephony and converged applications, there is often discussion about new, 'killer' applications that were not possible with traditional telephones but those that will now be realized with IP Telephony. In reality, the real value of converged IP Telephony applications is not in new 'killer' applications, but rather in the usability of such applications. Existing phone applications and call control functions just need to be redesigned to take advantage of the fact that voice functions do not necessarily have to be limited to an audio phone interface but can be accessible through the screens of IP Phones, computers and PDAs.

In his keynote titled, "Dragging the phone, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century," Thirumale will discuss the real value of how IP telephony is delivering existing applications and call control functions with vastly improved usability across a range of devices whether telephone, computer, or wireless.

About Murli Thirumale

As group vice president and general manager of the Gateways Group at Citrix, Murli Thirumale is responsible for driving revenue growth, for marketing and product management, and alliances for the Citrix Access Gateway(TM) and Citrix Application Gateway(TM) product lines. Thirumale is one of the co-founders and former CEO of Net6, which Citrix acquired in 2004. Prior to establishing Net6, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Symmetricom, and also spent seven years as a general manager of HP, where he built a telecom synchronization business and a wireless OEM business from the ground up.

Thirumale received an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Institute of Technology - BHU in India.
