hotel industry has seen a dramatic decline in telecom revenue, as more and more guests rely on cell phones or PDAs instead of paying in-room hotel telephone charges. The hotel industry has responded by deriving new revenue from high-speed access to rooms, which in turn has laid the foundation for an IP telephony infrastructure. With Hospitality Voice Services, hotels can increase revenue through value-added services available through the device that is operational 24/7 in the room - the phone. This advertising can be used to continue generating revenue in two different ways, either to promote patronage to on-property restaurants and shows or through the advertising space that is sold to local businesses near the hotel or resort.

Citrix Hospitality Voice Services comes in two packages, Gold and Silver. These packages are designed to enable the hotel or resort to self manage the operation of the applications instead of having to contract professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  every time a new advertisement or telephone button is required.

In addition to Hospitality Voice Services packages, Citrix also develops customized hospitality applications - enabling hotels and resorts to offer even more personalized services such as hotel property information including show, restaurant, and gaming information. These customized applications can enable guests to use the phone's screen in order to interact directly with certain functions of the property management system so that they see stored messages, set and un-set "Do Not Disturb Do not disturb usually referes to a status where the subject prefers to be left in solitary.
