(Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Dane County in southern Wisconsin is using Citrix access infrastructure to provide 1,600 government officials, administrators and staff across 45 departments with secure, easy and instant access to a variety of government and community management applications. Serving a community of more than 426,000 residents, the Dane County administration encompasses a variety of departments providing an array of services including law enforcement, social services, career counseling and airport administration. With Citrix, Dane County is improving law enforcement services and community relations by enabling police officers to access criminal databases from remote field offices.

Dane County turned to Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Presentation Server, the foundation of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, to improve its current IT capabilities without increasing its budget or workforce. MetaFrame Presentation Server enables Dane County's IT staff to centrally deploy heterogeneous custom or commercially packaged Windows(R) and Web applications and deliver their functionality as a service to workers, wherever they may be. As a result, Dane County has been able to keep its older PCs or replace them with less expensive terminal devices and yet still provide access to the most current software applications through these machines. This has reduced the cost of upgrading hardware dramatically, while also saving the time and cost of having to manually load and update software at each individual PC. Moreover, this has improved productivity and enabled a better work/life balance since staff can access these applications securely over the Web from anywhere, including their homes.

Most critically - in terms of community safety - Dane County's Sheriff and local police departments use MetaFrame Presentation Server to access Spillman Inc.'s Summit Jail System and Dynamic Imaging, Inc.'s PictureLink photo imaging system, which includes digital pictures, background information, mug shots and electronic fingerprints of suspected criminals. Now, officers have real-time access to the information they need at the scene of the crime via the Internet when patrolling the streets of the 60 communities in Dane County.

MetaFrame Presentation Server is raising the level of service the County provides to the community in other important ways as well. The Dane County Human Services Department, which includes the Dane County Job Center, Social Services and Child Services departments, can now give community residents faster access to government applications and information by providing municipal workers access to county applications via the Internet. The 911 Communications has relied on MetaFrame Presentation Server for the past eight years to gain access to public safety information and mapping systems to assist them when dispatching officers on emergency calls.
