At the same time, it enables LHSC's IT administrators to centrally deploy and manage applications, which increases their organizational efficiency and ultimately leads to substantially lower enterprise IT costs.

"Citrix access infrastructure has enabled us to significantly reduce our overall operating and capital costs," said Peter Gilbert Peter Gilbert (born 31 July 1983, Newcastle upon Tyne) is a professional English footballer who is currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday F.C.. He was also eligible to play for Wales which he opted to do and has represented them at U21 international level. , coordinator of technology solutions for LHSC. In addition to reducing operational costs, the LHSC IT staff can now deliver upgrades to the Cerner application far faster than before. Application updates are completed in -- literally -- hours instead of months. LHSC is also using Citrix access infrastructure to centrally deploy and manage Web-based PeopleSoft applications as well as a dozen office productivity applications, including Microsoft(R) Office, Groupwise, Word Perfect and Reflections 2.0.

"We can upgrade the application on the servers within two hours, which is a huge contrast to the months that our team previously spent on deploying the software across all the desktops," noted Gilbert. "Our staff can immediately access the most updated information in real time, enabling us to focus our energy on caring for patients instead of technology."

By implementing Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, the hospital has enabled access to applications and patient information from any point within the facility, medical classrooms, home or other hospitals.
