Lemon Grove School District

A fast-growing school district with many of its 4,600 K-8 students from lower income communities, the Lemon Grove School District in Lemon Grove, California Lemon Grove is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 24,918 as of the 2000 census. History
The community was settled in 1869 by its first known permanent resident, sheep rancher Robert Allison.
is bridging the digital divide with Project LemonLINK. The Project provides students with equal access through a district-wide access infrastructure network, built on MetaFrame XP Presentation Server, that connects the district's eight schools to homes, libraries, community centers, LemonLINK's application suite and the Internet. Now teachers can deliver lesson plans digitally to students, parents can become more involved in their child's progress by accessing school news and information, and students can complete homework assignments online and submit class work via email whether they're working from the classroom, school library, local teen center or their own homes.

This fall, Lemon Grove will also begin a grant pilot program to allow three teachers to use wireless tablet PCs to connect to all district resources whether at school, home or in the community. Part of a district-wide initiative to challenge traditional instructional models, the One-to-One Home and School pilot will help Lemon Grove create a fluid learning environment that embraces technology as the cornerstone of the educational delivery system.

"We've had such great success with Citrix access infrastructure - the basis of Project LemonLINK -- and are eagerly anticipating our newest technology initiative," said Darryl LaGace, director of information services for the district. "Our Citrix-powered community-wide collaborative education environment has helped us meet today's demanding educational requirements and provide our teachers, administrators and students with access to the information they need to succeed. The One-to-One Home and School pilot truly exemplifies the concept of anytime, anywhere learning, and has positively impacted student achievement."

Rehoboth Christian School

A smaller, economically disadvantaged school located in rural New Mexico New Mexico, state in the SW United States. At its northwestern corner are the so-called Four Corners, where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah meet at right angles; New Mexico is also bordered by Oklahoma (NE), Texas (E, S), and Mexico (S). , the Rehoboth Christian School serves more than 400 students. Nearly half qualify for federal free and reduced-fee lunch, five percent do not have a phone at home, and 25 percent lack a computer or Internet connection. Rehoboth is using Citrix access infrastructure to bring state-of-the-art educational services to these students through a network of 150 thin-client computers in the school's labs, classrooms and students' homes, some of which are located more than 60 miles from the central campus. In addition, the school district is using Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server in conjunction with free computers and subsidized Internet access See how to access the Internet.  so that students and parents can access educational resources from home.

"Citrix access infrastructure allowed us to provide application access to students spread across a vast area of the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo, and has also given us the ability to increase parental involvement -- one of the top concerns for school districts across the country and a major tenet of the No Child Left Behind Act," said Ron Polinder, executive director for Rehoboth Christian School. "Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server has helped us overcome economic challenges and meet today's demanding education standards."

Garrison Forest School

A private, all-girls college preparatory boarding and day school for grades pre-K-12 in Owings Mills, Maryland, the Garrison Forest School chose Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server to help support its five-year technology plan. "With Citrix access infrastructure as the foundation of our IT environment, teachers and administrators can access school applications and information using on any computing device from virtually any of the schools' 14 buildings or from home. This has improved productivity and enhanced learning," said Larry Kahn, director of information technology at the Garrison Forest School. "Because we're a hybrid shop, it's important that teachers and administrators can work with the computing device and operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  they're most comfortable with -- and Citrix makes this possible. What's more is that Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server has vastly increased our IT staff's efficiency in solving technical problems and has dramatically reduced the number of support calls we receive."

Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District

To improve application access and enhance the learning environment in spite of a strained IT budget, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School (LGSUHS), a public district located in Santa Clara Santa Clara, city, Cuba

The LGSUHS District is home to more than 3,000 students, and many different computing devices and operating systems. Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server has helped the school meet the challenge of ensuring that all students have equal access to the same information at all times regardless of their location or computing device.

"Citrix access infrastructure technology is helping us achieve our long-term district-wide goal to create and implement a comprehensive information technology plan," said Dan Cochran, director of technology for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District. "A key driver behind our six-year technology modernization project, Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server is one of the reasons why we're well on our way to reaching our goal."
