(Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Kindred Healthcare, one of the nation's largest long-term healthcare providers, is using Citrix access infrastructure to provide more than 3,800 medical staff with secure, Web-based access to patient care applications from their homes and remote sites, greatly improving their productivity. In addition, by centralizing applications and information on Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) Presentation Server, Kindred Healthcare has made information more secure, efficient and cost-effective to manage.

Kindred Healthcare comprises 65 acute care hospitals, 285 nursing centers and 30 institutional pharmacies across the country. With more than 350 locations and a large percentage of employees working remotely, Kindred Healthcare needed to ensure that staff in all of its locations had secure, easy and instant access to a range of client/server and productivity applications. In particular, the healthcare provider needed to guarantee access within areas such as the nursing center where it is important to have immediate access to patient information and health records.
