Citizens cooperation has helped in foiling serious terror incidents: CCPO.

LAHORE, November 06, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore has said that with active and timely cooperation of enlightened citizens of Lahore, a number of possible terrorist serious incidents have been foiled at nick of time in the city. CCPO said that the scourge of terrorism can only be combated through community policing, whereas all available resources are being utilized to ensure protection of all important institutions and offices, including media institutions. He appealed to the citizens to keep their documents of vehicles and computerized original identity card with while travelling in the city. He was talking to citizens on the occasion of Open Court held at Capital City Police Headquarters, here today. CCPO pointed out that by timely informing Lahore Police about suspicious activities and persons at Emergency 15 and other announced telephone numbers, the enlightened citizens of Lahore have not only protected life and property of their own dear ones, but have also served the nation a great deal, for which Lahore Police is extremely grateful to them. He further disclosed that a number of secret information passed on by concerned citizens was so effective and timely that active bombs were deactivated on their prompt indication. He said that this again proves the fact that Lahore Police is heavily dependent upon the willing cooperation of enlightened citizens for its success. CCPO also appealed to the citizens to desist from making bogus telephone calls and help police in making such mischievous persons accountable before the law due to whom citizens are deprived of immediate police assistance in genuine emergency calls. CCPO informed the citizens that instructions had been issued to Lahore Police for keeping a close and continuous contact with the security personnel deputed at sensitive institutions, universities, schools and colleges and other important media places and making a foolproof security arrangements after a thorough checkup. He said orders has also been given to take legal action against all kinds of hate material, and hate-related wall-chalking and pamphlet distribution in order to eradicate dissemination of wrong information. Muhammad Pervez Rathore also appealed to the citizens of Lahore to keep a vigilant eye on their immediate surroundings and inform immediately on the following telephone numbers about any suspicious things or persons at Emergency Control 15, Qurban Control 99200269 or Traffic Control 99201910.
