Citizens Banking Corporation's General Auditor to Retire; Interim Auditor Named.

) announced today that Richard J. Mitsdarfer, senior vice president and general auditor for the corporation and for Citizens Bank, will retire from the company effective Oct. 1.

, director of strategy and planning for the corporation, will take on the duties of the general auditor on an interim basis until a permanent replacement for Mitsdarfer is found.

Hartman said Hawking, as interim general auditor, will report directly to the corporation's board of directors through its audit committee and will also join the company's Leadership Group of executives.

Hawking joined Citizens in October 2002 and has assisted the bank in the development of a new budgeting process and financial performance indicators and tracking mechanisms. Hawking previously spent 14 years in financial management positions with Bank One, including director of retail acquisitions and divestitures. He also held the positions of CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  of Bank One Kentucky and Bank One Dayton.
