Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America Presents Community Volunteer Service Awards to 855 students; Best Buy Co., Inc. Continues as Largest Sponsor.

Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America (CSFA) has awarded a record 855 Community Volunteer Service Awards to the Class of 2001. The $500 scholarships recognize outstanding volunteer and community service efforts of high school students from across the country.

Recipients from 23 states were evaluated on their record of volunteerism, community service and academic achievement. The scholarships are sponsored each year by companies, foundations, and individuals. Minneapolis-based Best Buy Co., Inc. was the leading sponsor of the awards in 2001, funding 826 scholarships for total commitment of $413,000. More than 2,500 students have received awards since the program began in 1990.
