Citigroup and ABAEF Partner to Teach Children to Save; Citigroup Consumer Education Initiative Officially Launches on National Teach Children to Save Day - April 24, 2001.

Citigroup and the American Bankers Association The American Bankers Association (ABA) is comprised of banks and other financial institutions. It seeks to promote the strength and profitability of the banking industry by Lobbying federal and state governments, building industry consensus on key issues, and providing products and  Education Foundation (ABAEF) today announced a partnership for a national financial education initiative that teaches children the value of saving for the future.

Employees of Citigroup will volunteer as teachers for the Teach Children to Save program, which officially launches on National Teach Children to Save Day (NTCSD) on April 24, 2001. NTCSD and the savings program are sponsored by the non-profit ABAEF, which works with financial institutions to promote and increase financial education in the U.S.

Citigroup employees will use ABAEF's Teach Children to Save resource kits that includes K-12 grade-specific lessons to teach young people how to be "$mart $avers Coordinates:  Avers is a municipality in the district of Hinterrhein in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. ." Lessons incorporate activities, games, quizzes, video segments and budget exercises that youth can relate to, such as "Buying a Scooter scooter: see motorcycle. " and "Living in the Real World." Other activities include budgeting and determining needs and wants.

On NTCSD, Citigroup employees will join hundreds of other volunteers in making presentations in local schools to students in grades K-12. Since its creation in 1997, NTCSD activities have reached more than 500,000 students through some 20,000 presentations.
