volunteers joining more than 40,000 Citigroup volunteers in 100 countries

STAMFORD, Conn. -- On Saturday, November 18, more than 100 Citigroup Global Wealth Management (GWM GWM - Gay White Male
GWM - Generic Window Manager
GWM - Ground Water Monitoring
GWM - Groundwater Policy and Management Staff
) volunteers will meet at Kosciuszko Park in Stamford, Connecticut from 9am - 2:30pm to clean and refurbish the facility, which has been closed due to a lack of funding and upkeep. The GWM workers, most of whom live in the Stamford area, will be directed by the local nonprofit group "Keep Stamford Beautiful". Mayor Dannel P. Malloy will welcome the group. The efforts to clean and refurbish will help lead to the park's reopening.

The effort on November 18 in Stamford is one of many during the company's first "Global Community Day" in which more than 40,000 Citigroup volunteers in 400 cities across all 50 U.S. states and 100 countries, including employees and their families and friends, will be working to improve their communities and the lives of their neighbors.

Recognizing that many Citigroup employees volunteer year-round in their communities, Global Community Day was created to celebrate Citigroup's volunteer spirit on a single day worldwide. Local volunteer teams will be working on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs, including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.

"Citigroup's Global Community Day is a company-wide effort, with tens of thousands of volunteers working in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America," said Charles Prince, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup. "This initiative certainly highlights the power and diversity of Citigroup's employees and our unwavering commitment to making communities better where we live and work."

"The people of Smith Barney, Citigroup Private Bank and Citigroup Investment Research care deeply about their communities and about service to their neighbors," said Todd Thomson, Connecticut resident and Chairman and CEO of Global Wealth Management. "We hope our efforts serve to bring this important public facility back to a useful state that our neighbors and friends can again enjoy."

As part of Global Community Day, two other Stamford-area organizations will receive volunteer efforts. Volunteers will work toward refurbishing two assisted living complexes at St. Luke's Lifeworks, a Stamford-based organization that helps individuals and families affected by homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and mental illness. Additionally, Citigroup employees will paint rooms in a supportive housing residence in Fairfield for Operation Hope, an organization that helps individuals and families who are hungry, homeless and at risk to achieve increased stability and self-reliance.
