Citi Appoints Marty Lippert as Chief Information Officer, and Corporate O&T Chief Operating Officer.

NEW YORK -- Citi today named Marty Lippert Citi Chief Information Officer and Corporate Operations and Technology Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Lippert will play a critical role in driving transformational change across Citi's newly centralized Global Technology and Operations divisions, working closely with Kevin Kessinger, Citi Chief Operations and Technology Officer. In addition, Mr. Lippert will oversee Citi's Corporate Shared Services and Real Estate Operations. He will join the Citi Senior Leadership Committee.

Mr. Lippert has a proven, 27-year track record of leading successful IT and operations groups in addition to a wide range of business management experience in the financial services industry. As Vice Chairman and Group Head of Global Technology and Operations for Royal Bank of Canada, Mr. Lippert served as a member of the Group Executive Team and as Chairman of RBC Dexia and Moneris Solutions. Prior to joining RBC, Mr. Lippert spent 16 years at Mellon Bank, serving as Executive Vice President for Information Management & Research and Chief Financial Officer of Technology.

"In today's global environment, our competitiveness is dependent on having leading technology and operational capabilities," said Vikram Pandit, Citi Chief Executive Officer. "Marty's appointment emphasizes the importance we place on technology in driving enterprise transformation, and we'll look to him to be a key architect of that change. This role is central to Citi's commitment to operational excellence and cost management, and we are excited to have Marty on board to help orchestrate what we believe will be one of the great turnarounds in US corporate history."

"Marty brings a unique combination of business and industry acumen to this critical role," Mr. Kessinger said. "We will look to him to advance Citi's business strategy by developing technology and operational platforms that are robust, agile, and cost effective. His role will involve the design and deployment of globally integrated solutions that are client-centric, and will reclaim Citi's position as an innovative leader in the financial services industry."

Citi, the leading global financial services company, has some 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 100 countries, providing consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, and wealth management.
