Secure PC takes security to a new level by combining advanced security features such as Internet and e-mail Control, Application Control, File/Folder Security, Password Protected Screen Blocker and Automated Logoff See logout.  for Inactive Computers, with a strong core set of desktop protection features that prevent end-users from changing system settings, modifying desktop appearances and installing unauthorized software.

Secure PC helps reduce end-user support costs and system downtime by controlling access to system settings and preventing accidental or deliberate changes. Businesses, government and school System Administrators now have a much better solution than spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

Secure PC also increases desktop and network security as it prevents unauthorized use of computers when they are left on, unattended. Finally Secure PC prevents installation of unauthorized software which helps organizations keep desktops Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant.

"Secure PC has been recognized as Best of Breed by Winmag.com and has been well received by many editors and customers alike." said Bennett S. Klein, Citadel Vice President of Marketing. "Now with our Network version, administrators will be able to centrally implement and manage all their desktop security policies and better protect workstations across their network. Secure PC provides a suite of security and control features not available in the base Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  and NetWare products. Secure PC's `roaming profiles', allows administrators to control users' actions and protect workstations wherever users logon to the network, even remotely."

Secure PC's features have very practical applications that solve fundamental security and control problems facing organizations today. Using Internet security ''This article or section is being rewritten at

Internet security is the process of protecting data and privacy of devices connected to internet from information robbery, hacking, malware infection and unwanted software.
as an example, Secure PC can prevent access to inappropriate sites and prevent sending or receiving Internet e-mail messages that contain inappropriate content that could result in discrimination lawsuits. Now businesses and government can prevent users from searching through career opportunity sites, as well as prevent stock trading and web surfing Refers to jumping from page to page on the Web. Just as in "TV channel surfing," where one clicks the remote to go from channel to channel, the hyperlink on Web pages makes it easy to jump from one page to another.  during work hours. Schools can filter out dangerous sites containing inappropriate information or only allow children to access "approved" sites. Secure PC also lets administrators take complete control over which Windows applications the end-user can access and run, as well as the length of time that access will be allowed. Within applications, administrators can even prevent access to certain windows, features and menus providing even more granular control.

Organizations struggling to keep end-users from installing unauthorized software can now proactively enforce their policies. Secure PC can be set to prevent the end-user from running setup and InstallShield and control the use of floppy and CD-ROM drives CD-ROM drives, which today typically means a CD-RW drive that is a combo CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW drive, come in a variety of speeds. The original drive (1x) transferred data at 150KB per second.  to prevent software installation. This helps keep desktops Y2K compliant Capable of correctly processing any data that deals with a date beyond the year 1999. See Y2K problem.  and eliminates many support problems caused when users install their own software or unsupported versions of approved software.

Secure PC improves overall security by monitoring computer inactivity. When a system has been inactive for a predefined period of time, Secure PC can launch a password protected screen blocker and lock the keyboard and mouse to protect the system. Secure PC can also be set to logoff inactive systems at the end of a workday or after a predefined period of inactivity. Most data theft and unauthorized network use occurs when users leave their computers on, unattended.

To protect each system's hard drive, system files, applications and icons, Secure PC provides Folder Protection that allows the administrator to protect access to drives, folders, files, and shortcuts See Win Shortcuts.  as "locked" or "read-only". This controls which hard drive files and folders end-users may access and prevents unauthorized renaming, moving, copying, saving or deleting. Secure PC's "Exception" feature allows administrators to specify certain programs such as antivirus, backup, defrag and scandisk, which may override this security.

Secure PC Network version is installed and configured on an NT or NetWare server. The Secure PC client program and security settings are automatically pushed out to the workstation when the end-user logs on. The Network version supports Novell NetWare (operating system, networking) Novell NetWare - Novell, Inc.'s proprietary networking operating system for the IBM PC.
