Cisco and Microcom Strengthen Technology Alliance; New agreement includes Microcom modems in future Cisco products.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 1996--Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the signing of a new strategic agreement with Microcom, Inc. that extends the technology alliance between the two companies.

Under the agreement, Microcom will integrate modem technology into a group of future Cisco remote access products. In addition, Microcom will continue to supply its managed modems for the Cisco AS5200 Universal Access Server.

Microcom supplies Cisco with its customized 12-port V.34 (28,800 bps) modems for use in the Cisco AS5200. Microcom modems deliver central site network management capabilities and enable configuration and management of any modem deployed in the Cisco AS5200.
