Cisco Systems president and CEO joins Arbor Software's board of directors; brings experience in rapid growth management to leading multidimensional database supplier.


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1995--Arbor Software Corp., the fastest growing provider of multidimensional database See OLAP.  software for business planning and analysis applications, today announced that John Chambers John Chambers could be any of the following people:
  • John Chambers (scientist) one of the two scientists who formulated the Planet V Theory.
  • John Chambers (programmer), the creator of the S programming language and core member of the R programming language project.
, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Cisco Systems, Inc., has joined Arbor's board of directors.

About John T. Chambers

Chambers joined Cisco in 1991 as executive vice president responsible for research and development, manufacturing, worldwide sales, marketing and support. He was named president and CEO in November 1994 with additional responsibilities in finance and administration. Today, Chambers is also responsible for Cisco's five business units which are Core, Access, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , Workgroup and ATM Enterprise.

Prior to Cisco, Chambers spent eight years at Wang Laboratories, where he held positions such as senior vice-president of U.S. operations, senior vice-president of Wang's Americas/Asia/Pacific operations, and vice president of the company's central regional U.S. operations. Prior to Wang, Chambers also spent six years with IBM.
