Cisco Makes Strategic Investment in RadioLAN; Will Integrate Startup's 10-Mbps Wireless LAN Technology into Networking Products.

) and RadioLAN, Inc. have signed an agreement under which Cisco will make a minority equity investment in RadioLAN and the two firms will work together to integrate RadioLAN's wireless local-area network (LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. Cisco's equity investment, which represents less than 10 percent of the value of RadioLAN, will be used to fund ongoing research and development, and to ramp up Ramp Up

RadioLAN, founded in 1993, designs and markets low-cost wireless LANs that run at full Ethernet speed (10 Mbps) and interoperate with existing 10BaseT networks. RadioLAN products are available directly from the company and will also be sold through distributors, value-added resellers (VARs) and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  partners.
