Cisco's new Joint Interoperability Test Command The Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) is a United States military organization that tests technology that pertains to multiple branches of the armed services and government. There is a facility in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and in Indian Head, Maryland. (JITC) PBX1 certification allows DoD organizations to deploy the Cisco IP Communications system in mission-critical environments such as Command and Control Voice-Grade Local Area Networks (C2VGLAN). The certification makes Cisco the first vendor to achieve PBX1 certification with an IP-centric softswitch. Cisco had already achieved JITC PBX2 certification. "Cisco's PBX1 certification allows government agencies to start moving away from legacy TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) A technology that transmits multiple signals simultaneously over a single transmission path. Each lower-speed signal is time sliced into one high-speed transmission. (Time Division Multiplexing (communications) time division multiplexing - (TDM) A type of multiplexing where two or more channels of information are transmitted over the same link by allocating a different time interval ("slot" or "slice") for the transmission of each channel.
