Governor Davis will announce tomorrow an additional $5 billion in new transportation money. The plan includes $2.8 billion from the General Fund and $2.2 billion from a Transportation Bond.

The $5 billion may result in as much as $15 billion in total transportation funding, a record investment in California's future. Funds will be used to fund new projects and complete existing projects along clogged commuter corridors, with a heavy emphasis on rail and mass transit. Funds will help local communities fund an unprecedented number of local high-priority projects.
