They produced the Intel 4004, Intel 8080, Intel 8086, Intel 80186, Intel 80286, Intel 80386, Intel 486 and Pentium microprocessor families as well as many other integrated circuits and personal computer networking (Nasdaq:INTC INTC Intel (NASDAQ symbol) INTC Intercept INTC Interrupt Controller ) to acquire Basis Communications Corporation, a privately held venture in which Cirrus Logic holds a minority interest. Under terms of the agreement, announced separately today, Intel would acquire Basis Communications in a transaction valued at approximately $450 million in cash and assumed options. Subject to the closing of the agreement by the respective parties, Cirrus Logic expects to report in the quarter ending June 2000, a benefit estimated between $80 to $85 million in cash. Basis Communications was formed in October 1998, when Cirrus Logic entered into an agreement to spinout spin·out n.
