Cirrus Logic announces high performance PCI-to-IDE disk interface.

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 1994--Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) Monday announced the CL-PD7232, the second product of the newly purchased Appian IDE host adaptor business unit.

The CL-PD7232, an enhanced version of the CL-PD7222, provides a high performance PCI-to-IDE disk interface for motherboards and add-in cards. Cirrus Logic is again reaffirming its commitment to the existing Appian ADI customer base by fully supporting and enhancing the current product line.

Along with the PCI interface, the CL-PD7232 offers DMA transfer protocol, Energy Star features and features for higher throughput. Concurrent system operations are possible using fully programmable command signal timing, and read-ahead and posted writes. The CL-PD7232 is capable of working with higher performance and higher capacity IDE drives, which are now becoming common in mainstream PCs.

The CL-PD7232 provides the same core features as the CL-PD7222 including a 32-bit VL-Bus interface as well as read and write operations to the disk through internal byte conversion and control logic.
