Cirrus Logic announces enhanced local bus IDE disk interface.

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 1994--Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) Monday announced the first product of the newly purchased Appian IDE host adaptor business unit.

The CL-PD7222, an enhanced version of the ADI2, will provide reduced system costs. With this first announcement, Cirrus Logic reaffirms its commitment to the existing Appian ADI customer base by fully supporting and enhancing the current product line.

The CL-PD7222 provides a 32-bit VL-Bus and 486DX local bus interface to the CPU and supports read and write operations to the disk through internal byte conversion and control logic. Maximum system performance is possible due to zero wait-state cycles implemented through the CPU. Read-ahead and posted write cycles are provided to further improve performance by allowing concurrent CPU-memory and peripheral operations.
