Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq:CRUS) today announced that it has received Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2 operating system board support package (BSP) certification for its EDB9312 development platform. The system hardware is based on the new Cirrus Logic EP9312 highly integrated embedded system-on-chip (SOC) processor. Having passed this certification process, customers of Cirrus Logic's EP9312 embedded processor are ensured of fully compliant system software that will accelerate design cycles for next-generation products.

The Cirrus Logic EDB9312 board support package includes the Windows CE .NET 4.2 operating system and on-chip driver support such as Ethernet, IDE, USB and accelerated 2D graphics. The porting and driver development work was performed by the Cirrus Logic system software development team. With the certification from Microsoft Corp., Cirrus Logic customers now have the maximum opportunity to leverage the EP9312's rich set of highly integrated features on a Windows-based platform -- all at new low-cost price points.

To ensure that customers receive a true out-of-the-box experience -- and a positive experience as well -- the Cirrus Logic EDB9312 board kit includes both the Windows CE .NET 4.2 BSP and an evaluation version of Microsoft's Platform Builder. Cirrus plans to obtain Windows CE .NET certification across its entire family of ARM9-based EP93XX embedded processors, including the recently introduced flagship EP9315 processor and EP9301 processor.
