Cirrus Logic Broadens Family of High-Precision Operational Amplifiers for Industrial Market; High-Precision ICs Deliver Superior Accuracy for Industrial, Scientific Instrumentation Applications.AUSTIN, Texas -- With the expansion of its family of cost-effective, high-precision operational amplifier operational amplifier, amplifier whose output voltage is proportional to the negative of its input voltage and that boosts the amplitude of an input signal many times, i.e., has a very high gain. (op amp) integrated circuits Integrated circuits Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. See Synonyms at dismay. [Middle English daunten, from Old French danter, from Latin task of amplifying low-level analog signals within scientific and industrial measurement applications. The dual-channel CS3004 and CS3014 and single-channel CS3003 and CS3013 integrated circuits deliver performance that results in dramatically higher accuracy than competing op amp solutions. The CS3013 and CS3014 also offer low power consumption, which is an important feature for new generations of battery-powered portable instruments and personal monitoring applications such as gas safety detectors. "Often within the signal path of many industrial and scientific instrument applications the operational amplifier is what limits the overall performance of the circuit," said John Paulos, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's Industrial Products Division. "The CS300X family offers a superior combination of high gain and low errors that yields exceptional accuracy, making these integrated circuits ideal for applications performing the highest-precision measurements." Applications such as temperature/safety monitoring and industrial process controllers require not only minimal errors due to noise, leakage and drift but also extremely high gain to preserve measurement accuracy. These CS300X family fulfills these requirements, with input leakage of only 100 picoamperes and an input offset voltage of only five microvolts (CS3003/CS3013; 10 microvolts in the CS3004/CS3014) with drift of 0.05 microvolts per degree. Critical noise errors are limited to 17 nanovolts per root-Hertz in the CS3003 and CS3004 (22 nanovolts per root-Hertz in the CS3013/CS3014), which is held flat above 2 kHz bandwidth. Accuracy in high-resolution measurement applications is ensured with exceptional open-loop gain The open-loop gain of an operational amplifier is the gain obtained when no feedback is used in the circuit. Open loop gain is usually exceedingly high; in fact, an ideal operational amplifier has infinite open-loop gain. performance of 150 dB in the CS3003/CS3004, while the low-power CS3013/14 provides 135 dB. Operating from single or bipolar power supplies of 2.7 V to 5 V (plus/minus 1.35V to plus/minus 2.5V), consumption is an impressive 1000 microamperes per amplifier in the CS3003/CS3004 and only 500 microamperes each in the CS3013/CS3014. In addition to the popular small-outline eight-pin QFN QFN Quad Flat No-Lead QFN Queen Fan Newsletter (rock band) QFN Quad Flat No Leads package, these devices will also be available in the new leadless 4 x 4 mm leadless QFN package. Pricing and Availability The dual-amplifier CS3004 and CS3014 are priced at $1.52 in quantities of 1,000. The CS3003 and CS3013, which are both single amplifiers, are scheduled for release in June of 2006 and will be priced at $0.99 in quantities of 1,000. Cirrus Logic Inc. Cirrus Logic develops high-precision analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits A mixed-signal integrated circuit combines analog circuits with digital signal processing (DSP) circuits on a single semiconductor die. An integrated circuit that includes both analog and digital circuitry (but no DSP), like a 555 timer, is generally not considered a mixed-signal for a broad range of consumer and industrial markets. Building on its diverse analog mixed-signal patent portfolio, Cirrus Logic delivers highly optimized products for consumer and commercial audio, automotive entertainment and industrial applications. The company operates from headquarters in Austin, Texas, with offices in Colorado, Europe, Japan and Asia. For more information visit http://www.cirrus.com.
