Cirrus Logic Analog-to-Digital Converters Deliver High-Quality Audio Performance for Consumer and Automotive Applications; Simplifies Product Designs and Helps Reduce Form Factors.AUSTIN, Texas -- Extending its expansive portfolio of analog and mixed-signal audio converter In signal processing, an audio converter or digital audio converter is a type of electronic hardware technology which converts an analog audio signal to a digital audio format, either on the input (Analog-to-digital converter or ADC), or the output (Digital-to-analog integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for products, Cirrus Logic (company) Cirrus Logic - A manufacturer of integrated circuits including the Advanced RISC Machine and display interface processors and cards for use as Windows accelerators (requiring dedicated driver software). http://cirrus.com/. Inc. (Nasdaq:CRUS crus (krus) pl. cru´ra [L.] 1. leg (1). 2. a leglike part. crus ce´rebri ) has introduced two new stereo analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) targeted for a variety of consumer and automotive audio applications such as set-top boxes, digital televisions, DVD recorders, audio/video receivers, in-car entertainment and concierge systems and musical instruments. The new 10-pin ADCs, the CS5343 and CS5344, give OEMs the industry's smallest (less than 15 square millimeters), stereo audio ADCs, while still delivering superior sound quality. "These new ADCs provide manufacturers a new level of simplicity when designing analog to digital audio conversion blocks in their products," said Jason Rhode, vice president and general manager of Mixed-Signal Audio Division, Cirrus Logic. "This solution delivers premium audio performance in the industry's smallest form factor without the need for configuration or expensive support circuitry. Cirrus Logic has now introduced 12 high-performance audio A/D converters in the past three years, which gives our diverse customer base one of the most comprehensive product portfolios in the industry." Based on an advanced multibit Delta-Sigma architecture, the CS5343 and CS5344 operate from a single 3.3V or 5V power supply and utilize a proprietary automatic mode selection to eliminate external configuration. These parts also incorporate a unique input architecture which provides a very high input impedance The input impedance, load impedance, or external impedance of a circuit or electronic device is the Thévenin equivalent impedance looking into its input. In audio systems of 7.5 MOhms, giving designers improved flexibility to use simple passive input circuits for the stereo line-level inputs, thus reducing design time, board space and cost. The CS5343 and CS5344 support audio sample rates up to 108 kHz and deliver 98 dB of dynamic range and -90 dB of THD+N THD+N Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise . Consuming only 50 mW of power, the CS5343 and CS5344 differ only in the serial audio interface format they support, with the CS5343 supporting the I2S (Inter-IC Sound) An internal digital audio interface for consumer electronics devices such as CD and DVD players, sound processors and digital TV (DTV). It is also used between a digital controller and an analog/digital codec similar to the AC Link and HD Audio Link format and the CS5344 supporting left-justified serial data format. Pricing and Availability The CS5343 and CS5344 are available in a 10-pin, lead-free TSSOP TSSOP Thin Shrink Small Outline Package TSSOP Thin Scale Small Outline Package package and are each priced at $1.35 in quantities of 10,000.
